I just had a good trip to Washington (Divorce lawyer) and later to San Francisco and wanted to report on some interesting criminal defense related news: An article was posted today, December 17, 2009, on CBS Atlanta’s online news website. CBS Atlanta News Reporter, Randy Lynn, wrote the article. The piece was published under the headline; Judge Speaks Out About Proposed Budget Cuts, Superior Court Chief Judge Against Cutting Criminal Justice System. Not sure how it would affect a court appointed attorney, however.
Chief Superior Court Judge Doris Downs held a news conference to make her feelings known about big cuts from the criminal justice system. All in all, these seem to mirror broader cuts over in Washington in the criminal defense arena. She held the news conference after the Fulton County Board of Commissioners stated their approval last Wednesday of a tentative 2010 budget, which includes wide-ranging cuts. Speaking of the law, if you are in San Francisco or nearby you happen to be searching out a top San Francisco criminal defense lawyer then I must suggest to you this firm. They are one of the best such criminal defense firms in the state of California in general and the city of San Francisco in particular when it comes to various criminal defense related cases. All in all they can help with spinal cord, head, brain and burn injury, among others. All in all, i wonder how these cuts will have an impact if you are for example a Washington divorce lawyer or I guess even a family law lawyer over there?
The County Manager, Zachary Williams, presented the new budget plan. The proposal plan totals $555,872,428. It represents a 16.5 percent reduction.
Judge Downs held a news conference speaking out against big cuts from the criminal justice system. She is alarmed about what she believes will be the serious ramifications if such cuts are applied to the criminal justice system such as court appointed lawyer.

In criminal news out of Washington state, a story appeared in the Seattle Times Local News today, December 8, 2009, written by Steve Miletech, a Seattle Times Staff Reporter, titled: Clemmons’ sister helped alleged driver ‘lay low,’ court papers say. According to the Times, on Friday afternoon, during the arraignment of two women who are alleged to have helped Maurice Clemmons following the shooting of four Lakewood, Washington Police officers, LaTanya Clemmons, age 34, was taken into custody. Police booked LaTanya Clemmons into jail Friday evening. LaTanya Clemmons, also allegedly planned to buy a bus ticket to Arkansas for Darcus D. Allen, 38. Allen was arrested at a Federal Way motel last week and booked into the Pierce County Jail. He is under investigation to determine his role in the killings. As an aside if you are in need of a top Washington criminal attorney I do suggest this resource. Very highly qualified criminal attorney indeed for the great state of Washington.LaTanya Clemmons was ordered by County Superior Court Judge Lisa Worswick to be held on $1.5 million bail Monday based on allegations she tampered with a witness and rendered criminal assistance following the murders.

Worswick gave prosecutors until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to determine whether to formally charge LaTanya Clemmons.

I just returned from Washington by auto and there was no accident luckily, writing time over here., Several news outlets reported on December 1, 2009, that three people were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado after taking a fall at an abandoned electrical power plant. The Montrose police report that the three injured, aged 19 to 26, trespassed onto private property. All in all, the three people climbed a catwalk and fell. Two fell several stories onto pavement. The third was caught in mid-air, dangling by a strap on his backpack. Joshua Drown of Delta, Colorado, age 21, came loose and fell further before authorities could assist him. Someone needs a good lawyer, that is for sure.
The three face charges including unlawful consumption of alcohol and unlawful entry. Luckily for them no drunk auto driving or dui charge. Stephanie Pickett, 19 years old, was airlifted to a Denver hospital. She sustained multiple fractures. She will be charged with underage possession of alcohol and unlawful entry. Obviously someone will need a Washington accident lawyer as this firm is great if you need a highly qualified Washington state car accident attorney or should I say a good car accident lawyer Washington with some experience overall in these types of cases.
23-year-old Rebecca Miller of Montrose is also expected to face charges. She sustained head and facial injuries. It has been reported by authorities that the group crawled beneath a fence at the plant. Some of them climbed up to a catwalk. Apparently they were so impaired by alcohol that they didn’t see that a floor panel was missing. Someone needs a top lawyers in this case. Well I suppose this is all better than an auto accident at least.

Just got back from seeing the personal injury attorney. Last month the the News Herald cited a Philadelphia Court ruling to bolster their argument to allow media access to a sensational court case. Four women are suing Joe Francis, founder of reality show, “Girls Gone Wild.” The News Herald has filed a motion to prevent the courtroom being closed to media. The article says the high court has yet to down a ruling on whether there is a First Amendment right of access to civil trials. The piece argues that the lower courts used Richmond Newspapers as a guideline to establish that right to civil proceedings.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed the public’s First Amendment right to access trials for more than 25 years, the Hearald contends. The Herald believes that the principle of transparency should be applied to civil cases. Incidentially if you find yourself in need of a Philadelphia personal injury attorney then I must Suggest Mark Rosenberg as he is indeed one of the very best in this personal injury category.
As it now stands, The attorney in question for the plaintiffs contend that details of the case “are highly sensitive and personal in nature.” The women were 13 to 17 years old when filmed by “Girls Gone Wild.” The show aired them, as the Herald describes, in “stages of undress or engaged in sexual activity.” The women are now adults.
Reportedly Judge Smoak said that unless a compelling physical or psychological reason can be put forth from the plaintiffs, he was inclined to keep the courtroom open. He called the federal court is a “public institution.”

Alright just got back to Los Angeles, time to get back in the saddle. Did you know that a personal injury lawsuit just may be the most well-known legal case in American history? Who hasn’t heard about the lady who spilled hot coffee on herself and sued McDonalds for a million? She pulled through the McDonalds drive-through and bought herself some coffee. She then pulled away, setting the coffee between her legs—and ended up spilling it on herself? Right? Well, not exactly. For one thing, Stella Liebeck was not driving. In fact, her grandson was behind the wheel, and they were stopped in the parking lot. Did you know that the coffee was superheated, and hot enough to give her excruciating third degree burns, require skin grafts, and debridement treatments—necessitating 8 days in the hospital? A documentary is being produced that features the famous McDonalds hot coffee lawsuit case. Susan Saladoff is producing the new documentary feature, Hot Coffee. It will lay out the facts in a case whose details most people know nothing about. And if you need a Los Angeles personal injury attorney
you can check out Bob Mansell’s office. Don’t worry, it does not have to be a coffee burn case, he handles, workplace, spinal cord, traumatic brain, car accident and related personal injury cases.
Here are a few more of the facts in the case taken from an entry on the website; ‘Lectric Law Library’s Stacks, entitled, The Actual Facts About The Mcdonalds Coffee Case:

A quality assurance manager for McDonalds testified that the company enforces a requirement that coffee be held in the pot at 185 degrees, plus or minus five degrees. The same assurance manager testified that a burn hazard exists with any food substance served at 140 degrees or above. He told the court that McDonalds coffee, at the temperature at which it was poured into styrofoam cups, was unfit for consumption because it would burn the mouth and throat.

I just got back from Los Angeles and wanted to share an interesting article with you: Whether you’ve been in a car accident, work-related accident, an injury involving an animal, or experienced the wrongful death of a loved one, the, thought of filing a nal lawsuit might seem overwhelming and intimidating. Here are some ideas to help you get started.
First, begin a file and label it. Begin a journal. Jot down all the details surrounding the circumstances leading up to and relating to the injury. Remember just what happened and how, and how it affected your life. It helps to recall the details of the injury itself, the time, the day, and what you were doing when it occurred. Try to remember as many details as you can, such as who was around you and with you, what was taking place around you. You’ll be surprised how one detail remembered will lead to another. These notes will be very helpful later on. And if you do need a Los Angeles personal injury attorney then Robert Mansell may be your man. He can help you with spinal cord, brain, burn, workplace and related serious personal injury cases in southern California in general and Los Angeles in particular.
It may be difficult to do it fhe injury was very traumatic, but try to remember as much about the actual injury that you can, such as what you felt, and what you heard, and who may have witnessed, or even been involved with the event.
It is also important to note—as it will be part of your case—what you experienced as you recovered . Did you experience anxiety? Any other forms of discomfort? Did you experience loss of sleep?
It is also important to note down any losses suffered, such as lost time at work, or loss of any activity that benefitted you financially or even something that adversely affected your social life. Start assembling documents to support your claims, and place them in your file.
Talk to anyone who was around or witnessed the accident. Write everything down. Testimony from others can greatly strenghthen your case.
Gathering as much good information as you can will be a great help to you and the professionals that will be working with you to get the fair settlement that you deserve, and get your life back on track.

I just got back from Chicago and it reminded me of an interesting story. Almost 97 years ago, the Denver Mint was robbed. On December 18, 1922 a Federal Reserve truck was parked outside the front entrance to the mint, and workers were filling in up with five-dollar bills. The money belonged to the Federal Reserve, and had been stored in a vault in the Mint. A black Buick pulled up and two masked men got out with sawed-off shotguns. Their accomplices broke out the back of the truck’s window as the two masked me yelled for the workers to get their hands up. The robbers grabbed some money packets. The getaway driver sat ready to flee. As ana side if you need a top Chicago Personal Injury Attorney then may I suggest John Budin. In my opinion he is one of the leading such personal injury attorney in the entire city of Chicago.
All Hell broke loose as one of the guards, who had dropped his gun, ran to hide behind a parked car. His fellow guard dropped $100,000 as he dove under the truck to avoid flying bullets. Another guard ran for the building. Yet another guard named, Charles T. Linton, shot back at the robbers. But Linton took a bullet from a gunman, suffering personal injury in the process..
Alarms began to sound inside the building. The guard who set the alarm off said afterwards that it had been hard to tell the guards from the robbers. A barrage of bullets was fired in the melee. Yet it was over in ninety seconds! The robbers fled with $200,000—which amounts to about $2 million today. I guess no attorney was needed in this particular case.

In an announcement today, November 9, 2009, a settlement was approved last Friday in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, California. It ordered a deadline of six-months for the government to decide on hundreds of citizenship applications from Santa Ana, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino County.
Hundreds of applications of legal immigrants in Southern California, who have been waiting years for their citizenship applications to be approved will have their processed as a result of the settlement with the federal government. They feel there is no defense for this level of delays.
The settlement also orders the end of open-ended delays in completing naturalization applications. As ana side if you need a veteran Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer then R. Luis may be your man, he is one of the best out there and can assist in a wide array if criminal defense type of cases. The delays were the result of delays by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to process citizenship applications, and by the FBI processing security name checks to look for criminal backgrounds and so on.
Jennie Pasquarella, is a staff lawyer for the ACLU of Southern California. She was quoted today as saying, “The naturalization process has been a bureaucratic nightmare for so many permanent residents who did everything right to become citizens of this country. This restores the dream of citizenship and ensures that the government will be held accountable.” I was wondering if the attorney general or a private lawyer would have to get involved in this particular case.

I got back from Los Angeles recently (was talking to a probate attorney over there regarding someone else) and I saw Lorena Bobbitt on a TV show there. She seemed like a very nice woman. It was hard to believe this was the woman who made the world cringe when she sliced off her husband’s penis with a knife from their kitchen. People generally seem to be turned off by the abuse excuse, as in Lorena’s case where she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. It was argued by Lorena’s attorney that she suffered from battered woman’s syndrome that triggered a brief episode of psychosis. It was brought on when her husband, John, came home after a night of partying and tried to rape her, and then passed out.

As an aside if you need a Los Angeles probate attorney then this resource may help. This is perhaps one of the top prbate lawyer that I know of and can help you in southern California generally, and in Los Angeles in particular.

It seemed to have been established in court that John Bobbitt liked violent intercourse, and that Lorena Bobbitt had suffered years of perverted mental and physical abuse. He was acquitted recently (2004) of battering family members when he got into a tussle with his stepson. Bobbitt has worked as adult film actor, hosted a brothel, and has worked as a bartender. In 2004, he told the press he intended avoiding trouble, and wanted to become a furniture mover and join the teamsters. That might be a good for for him, but we will have to wait and see.
