November to May is the prime time to visit Costa Rica, as this is their dry season. That works out perfectly for those of us American gringo-types who require a mid-winter escape to dissipate Season Affective Disorder—SAD—the depressive disorder made worse, or caused by, lack of sufficient sunlight. As therapy, I suggest a little trip to Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. The park is located in the Puntarinas province, along the Pacific coast. Of course, Costa Rica is also a surfing and yoga mecca as well. What a place for a surf trip or vacation.

The area that is occupied by Manuel Antonio National Park used to be owned by the United Fruit Company. It is now a 1,730 acre park, It is relatively small but is the most visited park in Costa Rice. And for good reason—it contains three beautiful beaches, each with a very unique character. The first beach is called Playa Espadilla Norte. The next is Playa Espadilla Sur, and the third is Playa Manuel Antonio. The last two are the ones for swimming and snorkeling. You will share these lovely beaches with arboreal iguanas and Cupuchin monkeys. Now, if you happen to be looking for a costa rica surf vacation or tour then let me suggest this site. If you would like to step into a picture postcard perfect a tropical paradise, this is it. Enjoy the water, or take a leisurely stroll along one or more of the park’s walking trails. Watch for anteaters, monkeys, caiman, ocelots, and sloths. If you are a snorkeler or a cuba diver, you’ll be in for some premier diving.
