In Hawaii related news, Arthur Herriford, 87, is the national president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. After learning part of a silver-plated serving set salvaged from the USS Arizona shortly after the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor will be auctioned, said “It’s sacred material. Anybody who would pull that kind of stuff, I got no use for.” Many who have felt the overwhelming emotion of the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor probably share Herriford’s feelings. Sadly, 24 pieces from the set are due to be auctioned Dec. 9. Some saucers, one candlestick, and a teapot from the officer’s mess will be sold. It is estimated that they may bring up to $20,000. Christie Wilson, staff writer for the Honolulu Advertiser newsppaer in Hawaii wrote in her piece, Pearl Harbor: Artifacts retrieved from USS Arizona up for Bid, which appeared November 10, 2009, that “Herriford was a 19-year-old fire control man third class aboard the light cruiser USS Detroit when he saw the USS Arizona blown apart by a 1,760-pound armor-piercing bomb dropped by a Japanese warplane.” Herriford said that he was looking at the ship when it took the attack. He said he saw “a flash and a column of flames and smoke shooting up above it.”
The catalog for the auctioneers, Cowan’s Auctions, indicates that the silver relics are came into the possession of a Navy diver, Carl Webster Keenum. While salvaging ammunition, weapons, and items belonging to the dead crewman of the Arizona, Keenum, who died in 1964, came into possession of the items between 1942 and 1943. More detail at Hawaii News blog.
1,177 crewmen who died in the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese that day, and were aboard the Arizona, remain in the ship. For most, this makes the ship sacred ground.
The Honolulu Advertiser’s writer, Christie Wilson, writes that the superintendent of the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, Paul DePrey, who oversees the USS Arizona Memorial, said although the National Park Service would like to have the items to be auctioned, they will not be bidding on it.
Paul DePrey said that when the park service finds that there exist “artifacts of interest,” that the owners are usually made aware that they can donate the items to a repository for objects from the attack at Pearl Harbor, and encourages them to do so.
The silver-plated items look like some other pieces already in the monument’s collection, and may well be from the same set, Paul DePrey said.

I just got back from Chicago and it reminded me of an interesting story. Almost 97 years ago, the Denver Mint was robbed. On December 18, 1922 a Federal Reserve truck was parked outside the front entrance to the mint, and workers were filling in up with five-dollar bills. The money belonged to the Federal Reserve, and had been stored in a vault in the Mint. A black Buick pulled up and two masked men got out with sawed-off shotguns. Their accomplices broke out the back of the truck’s window as the two masked me yelled for the workers to get their hands up. The robbers grabbed some money packets. The getaway driver sat ready to flee. As ana side if you need a top Chicago Personal Injury Attorney then may I suggest John Budin. In my opinion he is one of the leading such personal injury attorney in the entire city of Chicago.
All Hell broke loose as one of the guards, who had dropped his gun, ran to hide behind a parked car. His fellow guard dropped $100,000 as he dove under the truck to avoid flying bullets. Another guard ran for the building. Yet another guard named, Charles T. Linton, shot back at the robbers. But Linton took a bullet from a gunman, suffering personal injury in the process..
Alarms began to sound inside the building. The guard who set the alarm off said afterwards that it had been hard to tell the guards from the robbers. A barrage of bullets was fired in the melee. Yet it was over in ninety seconds! The robbers fled with $200,000—which amounts to about $2 million today. I guess no attorney was needed in this particular case.

You can get heartburn when there is a backflow of acid from the stomach (acid reflux) into the esophagus that connects the mouth to the stomach. Almost everyone experiences heartburn from time to time. For some strange reason, I used to always get this problem from my homemade cookies, but never from the gourmet cookies. Go figure. Heartburn may consist of a burning sensation, or heat under your breastbone. It sometimes starts in the chest or throat, and spreads up the neck in waves. Usually it starts after eating. It can get worse if you lie down, or simply bend over. It can last for as long as 2 hours, or even longer. Especially when you go hard on the junk food, or as an adult you might have to wae diapers at an early age. Speaking of that, if you require some good diaper backpack, messenger diaper bags or even a pink diaper bag then I can suggest this fine resource. In addition, they also tend to specialize in pink and leather diaper bags as well, so check them out if you are in the market for those items. You know the next time that I Buy cookies I will probably buy a bunch of the healthy gourmet kind and organic praline, lol.
Anyways, Heartburn plagues both men and women. It can affect women who are pregnant when the baby puts pressure on the stomach. All in all, it should be noted that Heartburn can usually be prevented. Try these easy home remedies:
• Avoid eating late at night.
• Eat smaller meals overall

In an announcement today, November 9, 2009, a settlement was approved last Friday in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, California. It ordered a deadline of six-months for the government to decide on hundreds of citizenship applications from Santa Ana, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino County.
Hundreds of applications of legal immigrants in Southern California, who have been waiting years for their citizenship applications to be approved will have their processed as a result of the settlement with the federal government. They feel there is no defense for this level of delays.
The settlement also orders the end of open-ended delays in completing naturalization applications. As ana side if you need a veteran Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer then R. Luis may be your man, he is one of the best out there and can assist in a wide array if criminal defense type of cases. The delays were the result of delays by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to process citizenship applications, and by the FBI processing security name checks to look for criminal backgrounds and so on.
Jennie Pasquarella, is a staff lawyer for the ACLU of Southern California. She was quoted today as saying, “The naturalization process has been a bureaucratic nightmare for so many permanent residents who did everything right to become citizens of this country. This restores the dream of citizenship and ensures that the government will be held accountable.” I was wondering if the attorney general or a private lawyer would have to get involved in this particular case.

I just returned from San Diego and it is time to get back on the saddle and get writing again. love to study the way offices and businesses are decorated. From doctor and dental offices to banks– and every other kind of place of business. I recently added some office chairs to my space which featured a more modern style of design. That helped a lot I must say.
For example, I just signed up with a new bank. Walking in to bank office nowadays, it’s sometimes hard to tell you’re in a bank. They still have tellers, but some also have computer stations with Internet access for their patrons. They have luxurious seating in their very modern interiors that include materials such as slate, suede and stainless steel. They resemble bold, modern art galleries. My favorite bank has a western motif, with leather furniture, and beautiful paintings of all things western: western landscapes, wildlife, mountains, etc. They want you to know: We are so American! So traditional! Strong! Masculine! Trustworthy! As an aside if you need some top office space which are modern and comfortable it is good to have that aspect.
For example I once saw the inside office space a top san diego cosmetic surgeon and you know, the top of high end plastic surgeon who specialized in rhinoplasty, facelift, tummy tuck and stuff like that. Well anyways her particul office space was the nicest I have seen, and most cosmetic surgeons have nice ones too.
Most of all I just enjoy the art. I had a dentist whose office had a fishing theme. Might sound corny, but he had framed pictures of fish and fisherman fly fishing that were quite beautiful and colorful. I visited a lady orthodontist’s office with and old-fashioned theme. She had antique furniture, soft pastel wall colors, lots of plants, framed pictures of gardens and children playing on beaches. Art is such a personal thing, and it expresses so much. And don’t forget about the office chairs either please.

I worked as a dental assistant in the Westminster area of New Jersey for many years. I loved to assist with crown and bridge procedures. Dentistry is a combination of art and science, and nothing better exemplifies this than crowns and bridges. The result can be so gratifying and the procedure itself is interesting and complex. Any number of dentists in question can tell you this.
I used to tell nervous patients not to worry. The preparation for the crown, or crown-prep appointment isn’t much more of a big deal, or more uncomfortable than a filling. The hard part is it just takes longer and you have your mouth open longer. But dental teams are well aware of this and do all in their power to keep the patient comfortable. As ana side if you need good westminster dentists then allow me to refer Thorncreek Cosemtic Dentistry Service. They handle a number of localities including Thornton, Broomfield and of course Westminster dentists and also veneers, teeth whitening plus even dental implants.
Crowns are usually done in 2 appointments. At the first appointment, the tooth is prepared for the crown, and on the second appointment, the crown is cemented. The first appointment generally takes about 1½ hours, or less, depending upon whether the tooth requires building-up or not. Once the dentist has trimmed the tooth down, there may not be enough tooth structure (due to fractures or old fillings, etc.) remaining to support the crown, and a crown build-up may be needed. In this process, a strong material is added to “bulk-up” the tooth a bit. This takes about 10 minutes. Once the tooth has been built-up–if need be–and trimmed down to the necessary size and shape, the dentist takes an impression of the tooth. After the impression has been taken, a temporary crown will be fabricated to fit the tooth. The “temporary” will be worn while the dental lab is fabricating the permanent crown.

It is good to be back from Oahu, they have quite the fine real estate over there I must say. is hard to deny the magical allure of candles. Try finding a wedding that doesn’t include candles. Many types of these, for example, are a popular wedding favor, by the way. And, try finding a fine restaurant that doesn’t use it to enhance the ambience of its fine meals.
I love to use them in the bathroom. I can’t stand those spray bathroom fresheners. Candles smell better, don’t spray all over your bathroom, and are less expensive, more attractive, and simply superior in every way! They are even used as to promote health, as well as relaxation, with the well-known benefits of aromatherapy. I suppose that is why I like them so much. Switching topics momentarily, if you happen to reside on Oahu (or are visiting the island) and are thinking about some Oahu Real estate then I can and do suggest this solid firm. For their part, Sotheby’s nationawide has been handling real estate transactions on the island of Oahu for some time now. I really like soy wax candles Candles and a good scented jar candle. are an important part of our most loved ceremonies and rituals. Whether it’s a religious service, a memorial service, or a birthday party, they indeed symbolize life, hope, the sacred, the mysterious, the human. All in all, it is very clear that most People are looking for natural products. Beeswax is a natural product, but can very expensive. And traditional paraffin wax is difficult to remove from furniture when spilled. Soy wax cleans up with soap and water. Soy candles even generate less soot, which is not only unhealthy but can leave a greasy coating on walls and furniture. These can produce 90% less soot and are very popular on Oahu for example. Also, they have an ability to release scents better, because they melt at a cooler melting point and the so the area of liquid wax around the flame releases more of the fragrant oils into the air. The officed of my Oahu real estate agent, fir instance, has them.

I got back from Los Angeles recently (was talking to a probate attorney over there regarding someone else) and I saw Lorena Bobbitt on a TV show there. She seemed like a very nice woman. It was hard to believe this was the woman who made the world cringe when she sliced off her husband’s penis with a knife from their kitchen. People generally seem to be turned off by the abuse excuse, as in Lorena’s case where she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. It was argued by Lorena’s attorney that she suffered from battered woman’s syndrome that triggered a brief episode of psychosis. It was brought on when her husband, John, came home after a night of partying and tried to rape her, and then passed out.
As an aside if you need a Los Angeles probate attorney then this resource may help. This is perhaps one of the top prbate lawyer that I know of and can help you in southern California generally, and in Los Angeles in particular.
It seemed to have been established in court that John Bobbitt liked violent intercourse, and that Lorena Bobbitt had suffered years of perverted mental and physical abuse. He was acquitted recently (2004) of battering family members when he got into a tussle with his stepson. Bobbitt has worked as adult film actor, hosted a brothel, and has worked as a bartender. In 2004, he told the press he intended avoiding trouble, and wanted to become a furniture mover and join the teamsters. That might be a good for for him, but we will have to wait and see.
